Location: Ham Wall, Westhay - Somerset Levels
Observation: Went down to Ham Wall to have another look at Hudsonian Godwit as my first picture was awful :( But on arriving couldn't locate bird, lots of twitchers looking !
As I walked past the crowd heard a pair of squabble Whitethroat directly behind person with turquoise t-shirt in picture !
No one turned round to look ,I did :)
Walked on up to Meare Heath hide with Blackcap's singing, Bitterns booming and my first Cuckoo of the year. Heard around 4/5 at days end and around 6 Booming Bitterns.
Plenty of Chiffchaff as well
Walked back towards Ham Wall And viewpoint 2. First saw a Buzzard, Swifts, then like a gang of thugs Hobbies around 10 then looking around skies 20+ amazing sight, lots of flies and Dragonflies around the reserve.
Walked around Walton Heath Loop more Hobbies and Bitterns a fly past Great White Egret and Marsh Harrier!
Then there sat this little fellow.... thought I had a Nightingale looked at ID was not sure. But now I've been told its a Garden Warbler, Excellent! Not really seen one before so new tick !
Just before leaving this Song Thrush was sat in car park just watching
At Westhay Cettis Warblers, Reed Warblers & Reed Bunting where singing everywhere but could hardly see any. More Cuckoo's here and Bitterns Booming, Hobbies counted 4,
2 using tree as staging post, dive out, catch a dragon then back on same tree .
A Great Day Highlight Hobbies !!!

Other Species: Whitethroat, Black Tailed Godwits, Buzzard, Hobby, Bittern, Great White Egret, Blackcap , Chiffchaff, Reed Warblers & Buntings, Garden Warbler - Plus many more !
