Date: 11/05/2016
Location: Chew Valley Lake
Weather: Rain/Misty becoming drier then Rain !
Other Species:
Red Kite, Hobby, Buzzard, Cuckoo,Swift,House Martin, Barn Swallow, Gadwall, Reed Warbler, Cettis Warbler, Chiffchaff, Tern sp.
Observation:
Rain forecast so no walk today so thought I'd head to Chew Valley with the hope of a Cuckoo, and within 5 minutes of opening slide door a Cuckoo could be heard calling from left hand side of Herriott's Pool, excellent! Looked for Cuckoo for 10/15 mins but couldn't locate but as I was looking another Cuckoo flew across from right to left to where other bird was calling. Lots of Swift, House Martins and Barn Swallows overhead.

Raining harder now, like little Spitfires the Swift flashing across the grey skies.

The rain stopped for 15 mins could hear the  Reed Warblers and seen them on the other side of Herriots, normally they hide and sculk in the reeds.

Headed on round to Herons Green not much in the bay another 2 Cuckoos could be heard not located. This little Pied Wagtail was making the most of the abundance of flies about !

Blue Tits also very busy feeding the little ones.

Flies everywhere, still itching now !

While checking with binoculars spotted this distant Red Kite... just, also at least 10 Tern sp. Further out in middle of lake and as I was leaving spotted a Hobby !
A pretty good day despite the rain.

Even 3 Orange Tip and Peacock and Small White Butterfly.

Thanks For Looking !
