Date spotted: 11th July - All Day
Location: WWT Slimbridge
Observation: Visited Slimbridge to find the Spoonbill who has been present for 2 weeks now, we looked in South Lake where it had been. No sign of the Spoonbill, on walking around we kindly got stopped by a lady asking if we had seen the 'special bird' we replied so she informed us where it was, we went straight there and found it in the Robbie Garnet hide around 20 foot from hide fishing and preening. It then walked around the whole part of hide before flying East towards South Lake. We thought we would follow it, again this was successful and we found it VERY close less than 25 foot from hide sleeping most the time but moving and preening every few minutes. Most people thought it was a Little Egret and got very excited when we told them it was a Spoonbill. Very exciting to see! Well worth a visit!
